Resident Assistants (RAs) help create a campus community through service that contributes to the growth and development of their fellow students, primarily in the residence halls. The role provides a valuable servant leadership experience and is a great way to demonstrate CUAA values and help fellow students. RAs are an integral part of Residence Life at CUAA.

RA roles and responsibilities

Resident Assistants are assigned to an area of approximately 30 individuals. Their primary responsibility is to act as a representative of Residence Life for their residence hall community. Resident Assistants represent Residence Life as a role model in all facets of University life.

The six basic roles are:

  1. Community Facilitator
  2. Team Member
  3. Administrator
  4. Programmer
  5. Policy Advocate
  6. Referral Agent

Requirements and expectations

All Resident Assistants must be enrolled as full-time students at Concordia University Ann Arbor and maintain a cumulative 2.25 grade point average. You must be in good standing with the university and Residence Life. All Resident Assistants are also required to attend all staff training and meetings as necessary. Additional expectations and duties as set forth by the Director of Residence Life, Resident Director, and the RA Manual.

Compensation

As a traditional Resident Assistant at CUAA, you’ll earn a salary equivalent to the cost of room charge and will be divided per pay period. Campus Ministry RAs will be compensated in the form of a stipend paid out at the beginning and middle of each semester.
